For my rhetorical analysis, I decided to analyze the home page for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Archive. I thought that this website was pretty interesting looking compared to some of the other websites and I liked the dramatic use of red when you open the website on its home page. I like the idea that so many people appreciate Shakespeare ,and theatre in general, enough to create websites about it and archives of the brilliant works. I like to think that other people appreciate theatre as much as it should be appreciated.

Creating an online presence, no matter how small is at the tip of our fingertips in the digital age. We are definitely not in the time that it took 3.5 hours to download a single song anymore. Everything moves so quick and freely in the digital universe, and many find themselves in the good situation of having a big online presence, which can really be of value in our society. I have been working on my online presence since the age of 13, when I opened the same Facebook account. I also made a Twitter account that year, but have since deleted that account and made a new one in 2017. I started off small, with only a few followers (my family), but now I have grown my friend group to 642 friends and I am now apart of 49 Groups including my two favorites: Nashville Pugs and East Nashville Pugs. A year after I made my Facebook page and my Twitter, I made my Instagram in 2014, along with an Instagram and Facebook for my dogs two years after that in 2016. The combined followers of my two Instagram accounts is 715 today, and since I do not use my Twitter very much at all, I have a very small 19 followers. My use of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are in the following order: Facebook, Instagram, and then Twitter. My boundaries for my curating of posts is restricted by my personal likes and dislikes, the likes of my friends and followers, and also my morals. I keep my posts and content clean apart from the very scarce swear word in something I share, like, or retweet. I like to keep my online presence clean due to my Christian values and also because I would rather not have my grandparents seeing a cuss word on my feed, because I want to keep their image and others images of me clean. I mainly post pictures of Pugs, repost Buzzfeed Recipe videos that I would like to try, and connect with friends in my many groups. For my pages I mainly post, share, and retweet things that I find amusing, helpful, or interesting. On Facebook I mainly post the things I said above: Pugs, Recipes, and the occasional posts with friends and family. On Instagram it is mainly pictures of my family and I going places or at home having fun together, right now it is mainly things I, myself, am doing due to the fact that I am not with my family as much at the moment because of school. On Twitter, most of the time I just retweet the tweets of famous people I follow for the most part, with the occasional tweet from me. I prefer to post stuff on Instagram when I am with my family, so that page is a little dormant right now, along with my Pug's pages that are normally full of cute pictures of them, but I have not been able to post much since I do not see them very often at all. I have tried not to look at pictures of them as much over the last week because looking at pictures of my Pugs tends to get me feeling very homesick even though I know they are only a forty minutes or a little more drive away. In conclusion, I use social media networks daily to enhance my online presence, and my dog's online presences. I find it pretty fun to be able to do that on a daily basis. For your enjoyment, I have also added a couple photos from my Facebook and my Pug's Instagram to give you a look at some of the pictures I post from time to time. |
